U.N. Action Against Sexual Violence in Conflict is seeking professionals who are available for critical short-term assignments in various locations around the world. The announcements and application guidelines is below for: Senior Adviser and Coordinator, Sexual Violence Gender-Based Violence Coordinator.
UN Action Against Sexual Violence in Conflict (UN Action) unites the work of 12 UN system entities – DPA, DPKO, OCHA, OHCHR, UNAIDS, UNDP, UNFPA, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNIFEM, WFP and WHO – with the goal of ending sexual violence in conflict (www.stoprapenow.org). Launched in March 2007, it represents a concerted effort by the United Nations to improve coordination and accountability, amplify advocacy, and support country efforts to prevent sexual violence and respond more effectively to the needs of survivors. UN Action seeks to amplify existing efforts by the UN system and its peace support operations to address sexual violence in conflict – reinforcing “good practice”, strengthening coordination and avoiding duplication. It seeks to harness the comparative strengths of each UN entity to ensure a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach to sexual violence during and immediately after conflict.
